Chile Fall 101-66 to Dominican Republic in Basketball World Cup Qualifiers

Chile’s path toward the 2027 Basketball World Cup suffered another setback with a 101-66 loss to the Dominican Republic at the Palacio de los Deportes in Santo Domingo.

The Dominican team controlled the game and was led by Andrés Feliz, the Real Madrid guard who finished with 17 points, three rebounds and three assists. The match was briefly interrupted by an unexpected power outage during the third quarter, but play resumed after several minutes.

The defeat left Chile at the bottom of its group in the American zone with 10 points. Colombia have 11, while Mexico sit on 13 points in fourth place, currently enough for a playoff spot. Brazil occupy the third position and a direct qualification place with 14 points, level with the Dominican Republic, while the United States lead the group with 15.

Chile will have home-court advantage in the next double-header. The team is scheduled to face Mexico on December 27 and the Dominican Republic on December 30.
