Chilean Culture Committee Urges Use of National Stadium for BTS Concerts

Chile's Chamber of Deputies Culture Committee has formally requested that authorities approve the use of the National Stadium for upcoming concerts by the South Korean group BTS. The committee emphasized its strong desire for the shows, scheduled for October, to take place at the iconic venue.

During a session on July 20, the committee met with representatives from the National Sports Institute (IND), the body responsible for authorizing the stadium's use for such events, and with fans of the popular K-pop group. The committee's members, including Deputy Alejandro Bernales, stated their conviction that the National Stadium is the only appropriate location for BTS's concert due to its conditions and the spectacle's quality, provided all legal requirements are met.

However, the Culture Committee's request does not grant them the authority to finalize the decision. The National Sports Institute is currently evaluating whether the event producer, DG Medios, meets the technical specifications required to use the National Stadium on October 14, 16, and 17. If DG Medios satisfies these technical requirements, the final approval will be in the hands of the Presidential Delegate, who is responsible for issuing permits for mass events.

The management company for BTS, HYBE, will also be involved in the final decision-making process. The committee's strong advocacy highlights the significant demand and cultural impact associated with the group's potential performances in Chile, underscoring the importance of securing a venue that can accommodate the scale of the event.
