Chilean Deputies Seek Storm Damage Repair Plan from Government

Chilean deputies Tamara Ramírez and Fabián Ossandón have formally requested a comprehensive action plan from the Subsecretariat of Regional Development to tackle the widespread infrastructure damage left by recent storms across various communes. The deputies emphasized the need for a national catalog of affected infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, green spaces, and urban furniture.

In their official request, they also asked for a clear breakdown of available resources designated for repairs and the implementation of extraordinary measures to accelerate the execution of these works. The deputies are seeking to understand the criteria used to assess damage and the procedures for municipalities to report their needs effectively.

Furthermore, the request probes into the budget allocated for repairs, particularly for essential items like manhole covers, lighting, signage, and playground equipment. It also seeks information on emergency funding, technical assistance, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure a timely recovery of public spaces and prevent future accidents.
