Chilean TV host Pancho Saavedra reveals hair transplant to boost self-esteem

Chilean television personality Pancho Saavedra has publicly shared his experience undergoing a hair transplant, a decision prompted by severe hair loss attributed to stress. The presenter confirmed that he had been experiencing what is known as "pelada franciscana," a condition characterized by baldness on the top of the head while the sides retain hair.

Saavedra described the distressing extent of his hair loss, noting that strands would come away when he ran his hand through his hair or during showers. Despite trying treatments like finasteride and minoxidil, the problem persisted, impacting his self-confidence. He mentioned that his hairdresser even used powders to conceal thinning areas on his scalp.

Seeking a solution, Saavedra opted for a hair transplant procedure. The operation, which took place on a Saturday, involved transplanting 7,000 hairs from the back of his head to the frontal area. The extensive surgery lasted 12 hours and reportedly cost around six million Chilean pesos.

Currently sporting a shaved head post-operation, Saavedra reports receiving compliments and feels a significant boost in his self-assurance. He emphasized that the decision was personal, aimed at enhancing his security and aligning with a broader shift he has made towards improving his overall health.
