China-Nepal border checkpoint building in Tibet reduced to rubble by floods

The joint inspection building at China's Gyirong Port, a vital crossing on the border with Nepal, has been devastated by severe flooding. Images show the structure reduced to a mangled frame of steel bars and concrete debris, its original form completely lost.

Rescue teams, including a heavy search and rescue team from Sichuan's fire and rescue corps, have been dispatched to the disaster site. They are working in the core affected area, clearing thick mud and rubble with their bare hands while calling out for survivors.

Chinese media, including Tibet Daily, have highlighted the destruction, with the keyword "Gyirong Port building left with only a steel skeleton" trending on Weibo. Photos circulating online show the extent of the damage, with exposed rebar and concrete chunks being all that remains of the once-functional building. The disaster has also left an unknown number of displaced people unaccounted for.
