Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported on August 18 that its military had detected five Chinese military aircraft operating in the vicinity of Taiwan. Between 6 a.m. on August 17 and 6 a.m. on August 18, the armed forces tracked a total of five Chinese military aircraft, eight Chinese naval vessels, and seven Chinese coast guard ships in the Taiwan Strait area.
