China urges Nigerian youth to boost Africa ties

China's Embassy in Nigeria is calling on young people across Nigeria and Africa to take a more active role in deepening cooperation and advancing the vision of a China-Africa community with a shared future. Minister Zhou Hongyou of the Chinese Embassy stressed the critical importance of youth engagement in sustaining relations between China, Nigeria, and the broader African continent during a seminar in Abuja.

It’s great to be here with all energetic young people from China and Nigeria, talking about how we can build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future.

The seminar, organized by the embassy in collaboration with Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Youth Development, provided a platform for young people from both China and Nigeria to contribute to a stronger partnership. Hongyou described the gathering as an opportunity to build an "all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future," quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping on the necessity of youth cooperation in addressing global challenges.

In today’s world, the future of people of all countries is closely linked together. Young people in all countries should establish a global vision and enhance their awareness of cooperation through education, and work together for a better future of mankind.

Hongyou encouraged young Nigerians and Chinese citizens to deepen their friendships through exchanges and to become "storytellers of China-Nigeria and China-Africa cooperation." He urged them to engage in dialogue with openness and inclusiveness, supporting the China-Africa community with a shared future. Amidst global uncertainty and conflict, he stated that China remains committed to Africa, ready to "walk side by side with Nigeria and other African countries toward modernization and a shared future for mankind."

The envoy highlighted that bilateral relations between Nigeria and China are expanding across trade, technology, education, culture, and sports.
