Chinese giant AliExpress fined a record 550 million euros by EU for selling illegal goods

Chinese e-commerce giant AliExpress has been hit with a record 550 million euro fine by the European Union. The penalty, equivalent to approximately 4.11 billion Danish kroner, is the largest ever imposed by the EU under its stringent new rules governing major technology companies.

The fine stems from AliExpress's failure to adequately prevent the sale of illegal products through its vast online marketplace. The EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) aims to hold large online platforms more accountable for the content and goods sold on their sites.
