Chinese-Marked Gas Canister Washes Ashore on Jeju Beach

A gas canister bearing Chinese characters washed ashore on a beach in Jeju, prompting an immediate response from fire and coast guard authorities. The discovery was made on the morning of August 13th at Woljeong Beach in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City.

Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters' Special Response Team and Chemical Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene. They confirmed the object was a gas canister and proceeded to analyze its contents. The analysis revealed that the canister contained acetylene, a highly flammable hydrocarbon.

Following safety procedures at the site, the fire department handed the canister over to the coast guard. The coast guard is now investigating the exact purpose of the canister and how it came to be washed ashore on Jeju's coast.
