Chivas lose opening match to Toluca, ending impressive streak

Chivas began their Apertura 2026 campaign with a disappointing 0-2 home loss to Toluca, ending a streak of strong performances and shaking fan confidence. The tension was palpable at the stadium as former idol Alexis Vega approached the penalty spot.

Vega, now a Toluca player, converted a Panenka penalty in the 43rd minute, silencing the crowd that once cheered him. This goal not only gave Toluca a crucial lead but also visibly demoralized Chivas, allowing the visitors to seize control of the match.
