Cho Kuk donates 1 million won to Roh Moo-hyun Foundation

Cho Kuk, former leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, announced on June 20 that he had donated 1 million won to the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation. He shared the details of his "one-time donation" via Facebook.

I made a 'one-time donation' to the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation.

The foundation was established in 2009 following the memorial service for the late President Roh Moo-hyun. Its leadership has included prominent figures such as Moon Jae-in, Han Myeong-sook, and Yoo Si-min.

Cho Kuk's donation comes at a sensitive time for the foundation. Yoo Si-min, a former chairman of the foundation, recently resigned from his position as standing director. This move followed criticism from Kwak Sang-eon, a Democratic Party lawmaker and Roh's son-in-law, who questioned whether the foundation was effectively promoting Roh's legacy or primarily serving Yoo Si-min's interests.

Kwak had publicly stated on his YouTube channel that a significant portion of the foundation's YouTube content focused on Yoo Si-min and related individuals, suggesting a potential deviation from the foundation's original purpose. Yoo Si-min, in his farewell message to foundation members, cited his upcoming critical activities as the reason for his departure, aiming to prevent any potential difficulties for the foundation. He served as chairman from 2018 to 2021 and recently hosted a book review segment on the foundation's YouTube channel.

The foundation's YouTube videos are mostly about Yoo Si-min and those related to him.

Notably, Yoo Si-min had previously supported Cho Kuk during the June 3 by-election, suggesting that Cho Kuk's victory would be preferable to that of Kim Yong-nam of the Democratic Party.
