Choi Min-hee announces bid for Democratic Party leadership

Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Choi Min-hee has officially declared her bid for the party's Supreme Council election, scheduled for next month. Choi announced her candidacy on Facebook, stating her intention to become a driving force for protecting the party and spearheading its reform agenda.

Choi emphasized that the current era demands "people's reforms" in critical sectors, including the prosecution, media, judiciary, and economy. While acknowledging progress made during President Lee Jae-myung's first year in office, she stressed that these reforms are ongoing and must be fully realized. She also advocated for a "one-person, one-vote" system within the party, aligning delegate and general member votes equally, as a crucial step toward a party governed by its members' will and adhering to principles of fair elections.

Drawing inspiration from the legacies of former presidents Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in, Choi expressed her commitment to actively supporting President Lee Jae-myung's vision for a "great transformation" of South Korea. She also highlighted the significance of unity and solidarity among progressive forces.

Furthermore, Choi pledged to emulate former party leader Lee Hae-chan by strengthening the Democratic Party's core and serving as a steadfast leader who remains unswayed by external pressures. Her campaign aims to solidify the party's foundation and ensure stable leadership.
