Chouki reinforces confidence that National Rally of Independents will lead Morocco’s legislative election

Mohamed Chouki told supporters in Ba Mohammed, in Morocco’s Fès-Meknès region, that he was certain the National Rally of Independents would top the country’s legislative election on September 23.

Speaking at a party communication meeting in Taounate province, Chouki said the party’s confidence came from what he described as deep change in the region. He credited the party with moving beyond traditional political management methods and establishing a new approach since the 2021 elections.

I am certain that the National Rally of Independents will be Morocco’s leading political force in the September 23 election.

Chouki pointed to the party’s continued control of 28 communes in Taounate, despite what he called efforts by its opponents. He also criticized unnamed political groups for remembering the province’s infrastructure needs only as elections approached. The National Rally of Independents, he said, had maintained a presence through its “Cities Path” programs in Taounate and Ba Mohammed, followed by the “Achievements Path” in Tissa several months ago.

He presented the party’s local record as visible in a range of projects. These included the rehabilitation of 55 health centers out of more than 70, the expansion of National Road 8 and the launch of major irrigation dams at Oued Leben and El Ghazi. Chouki also pledged to develop agricultural infrastructure and bring a new irrigated perimeter in Beni Snous into operation, describing it as a strategic project planned by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.

Turning to the election campaign, Chouki said the party was organized, prepared and accountable to voters. He said it had put forward 11 candidates in the Fès-Meknès region, making it the first party to submit its candidates, and challenged its rivals to present programs that could compete with the party’s vision.

He said Moroccan voters could distinguish between practical, implementable programs and passing promises. Chouki ended by praising Taounate’s men and women, including Mohamed Salassi and Mustapha Missouri, and said the party was ready to pursue a leading result on September 23.
