CHP Group Rejected Kılıçdaroğlu's Request; Kılıçdaroğlu Now Writes to Parliament Speaker for Tomorrow's Group Meeting

A political crisis is unfolding within Turkey's main opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), following a court ruling that declared certain decisions within the party "absolutely void." This has led to a dispute over who has the authority to lead the party's parliamentary group meetings.

CHP leader Özgür Özel announced that he would preside over the upcoming group meeting, explicitly stating that the podium would not be handed over to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, whom he characterized as an "appointed" individual rather than an "elected" leader. This stance directly challenges Kılıçdaroğlu's claim to leadership after the court's ruling.

Despite Özel's declaration, Kılıçdaroğlu's faction remains determined to hold the meeting. A formal request was submitted to the CHP Group Administration by Hüseyin Yıldız, a CHP Aydın Province deputy known for his proximity to Kılıçdaroğlu. The request sought to inform the Parliament Speaker's office about the time for Kılıçdaroğlu's group meeting.

However, the CHP Group Management rejected the request, citing procedural irregularities. The written request reportedly lacked the signature of CHP Secretary General Rıfat Nalbantoğlu and a proper document number, rendering it non-compliant with established procedures. Consequently, the request could not be forwarded to the Parliament Speaker's office. Kılıçdaroğlu's camp has now escalated their efforts by directly writing to the Parliament Speaker's office in an attempt to secure the meeting.
