CHP leader Özel dismisses Kılıçdaroğlu's FETÖ accusations

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel has strongly refuted claims made by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, suggesting that Özel and his associates receive support from the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

Speaking in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Özel addressed Kılıçdaroğlu's remarks, which were reportedly made during a holiday gathering. Kılıçdaroğlu had suggested that FETÖ supports Özel and his allies. Özel countered this by pointing to the widespread criticism Kılıçdaroğlu faces on YouTube, stating that the majority of these content creators actually support him.

He highlighted that individuals who suffered during the Balyoz and Ergenekon cases, and military espionage trials, stood by him and his colleagues during FETÖ's most intense periods. He questioned the validity of Kılıçdaroğlu's accusations, noting that most YouTubers critical of Kılıçdaroğlu are independent, and any who might have made such a statement are likely acting alone.

Özel further argued that the accusations mirror those previously leveled against Kılıçdaroğlu himself by the ruling AK Party. "Accusations thrown at someone who stood firm on the night of the coup, who has been targeted and attacked by FETÖ members in the post-coup process, will not stick," he stated. He concluded by suggesting that anyone to whom these accusations might stick should examine themselves.
