CHP leader Özgür Özel: 'We will have a big holiday celebration together with the people'

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel announced that the party will hold a large public holiday gathering, distinct from its official celebrations. Speaking to reporters after a busy day of meetings at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Özel outlined the party's immediate plans following recent developments within CHP.

Özel stated that he would first travel to İzmir and then to Manisa. He confirmed that the party's official Bayram (holiday) celebrations would be held in Manisa on the first day of the holiday, where he would fulfill his personal and familial obligations. He added that the third and fourth days of the holiday were not yet finalized but indicated he would likely spend them with his constituents.

He mentioned that party officials would announce further details. When asked about remarks made by AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Özel deferred the response to the party's spokespersons or deputy group chairs for the following day.

As he was leaving the Parliament, Özel playfully addressed the persistent press members, including those from ANKA News Agency. Learning that ANKA was present, he quipped, "If I had known, I would have given you bombshell news. I will give bombshell news to Anadolu Agency when we come to power," he said, referencing the state-run news agency.
