The decision for him to rehabilitate in Denmark was made after discussions with Wolfsburg's CEO, Dieter Hecking. This follows an earlier period where Eriksen had requested more time to consider his future with the club. The incident during the match against Ukraine, where Eriksen collapsed and received immediate medical attention before being transported to Odense University Hospital, has had a profound impact. He was discharged the following day and shared an update on Instagram, noting that while the pacemaker's reaction had deeply affected him and his family, the situation was different from his 2021 cardiac arrest during the Euro match against Finland, which required on-field resuscitation and the subsequent implantation of a pacemaker.
