Christmas village opens early at Dadizele garden center despite heatwaves

While many are seeking relief from persistent heatwaves, the Floralux garden and decoration center in Dadizele is already busy building its Christmas village. The store is prioritizing an early setup for its large Christmas decoration department, aiming to be ready well ahead of the holiday season.

"We've noticed a lot of interest from customers already," said store manager Jesse Gesquière. Floralux makes a point of bringing out its Christmas decorations early each year, starting this year a week sooner than usual. This occurs even as temperatures approach 30 degrees Celsius, with customers already browsing the available decorations.

Gesquière mentioned that the setup requires significant effort, as the center boasts 2,000 square meters of Christmas items. This year's village will feature six distinct themes. The team drew inspiration from a Christmas fair in Frankfurt, as they do annually. Customers can anticipate soft colors complemented by gold accents, with house and tree decorations being prominent interior design elements. For lighting, the trend is to combine two types of light.

While we are setting everything up here, we see that customers also dare to rummage in the carts to see which decorations are available this year.

The "Countryfield" section, which best suits the autumn season, has already been completed and placed first. Interior decoration is a central focus. In the coming weeks, the first Christmas trees and more traditional Christmas decorations will appear. The full Christmas village is scheduled to open at the end of September. Other Floralux locations in Ham and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw will begin their setup in two weeks, with smaller villages requiring less time.
