Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu believes the city's Old Town requires a significant strategic overhaul. He notes that many businesses have departed the area, leaving it associated with safety concerns and a nightlife-centric economy, particularly after certain hours.

Ciucu criticized the previous pedestrianization efforts, stating they were poorly conceived and negatively impacted businesses. Ciucu also plans for a parking facility near Strada Franceză to encourage small and medium-sized businesses to return, fostering a more diverse economic environment.
