CITIZEN's Series 8 Launches Forged Carbon Mechanical Watches

Japanese watchmaker CITIZEN is enhancing its Series 8 collection with new mechanical watches that incorporate forged carbon, a material known for its lightness and strength. This latest offering aims to elevate the mid-range mechanical watch market by blending sophisticated Japanese design with robust functionality and advanced magnetic resistance.

The new CITIZEN Series 8 forged carbon limited edition watch, model NB6086-54E, features a deep gray electroplated finish accented with gold. Its 39.3mm case diameter pays homage to vintage styles while utilizing the slimness of the Cal. 9051 movement to achieve a case thickness of just 10.4mm. This proportion, combined with an integrated strap, results in a sleek and comfortable timepiece. The forged carbon dial presents a unique texture, making each watch distinct. Priced at 51,800 yuan (approximately $1,700 USD), only 1,200 units are globally available, with Taiwan receiving a limited allocation of 17.

The design of the Series 8 case is inspired by traditional Japanese joinery techniques. Despite its slim profile, the case comprises five assembled parts, creating a multi-layered structure with sharp geometric lines. Meticulous polishing and decorative techniques further showcase the Series 8's distinct Japanese aesthetic. The forged carbon fiber material for the dial adds a unique, one-of-a-kind texture to each watch.

Another model, the NB6085-57W, features a dial adorned with the traditional Japanese "Ichimatsu" checkerboard pattern, symbolizing prosperity and inspired by Tokyo's cityscape. The case and strap are finished with a dual-layer gold plating, evoking the changing light of Tokyo nights, from warm rose gold hues to the golden glow of city lights. Both new watches are powered by the in-house Cal. 9051 automatic movement, which meets Japanese JIS Type 2 standards for magnetic resistance and offers an accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds per day.
