Citizens Decide, Shaping İzmir's Future

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is empowering citizens in urban management through its Citizen Assemblies. The second phase of these assemblies recently concluded in Selçuk, Tire, and Bayındır. During open discussions, residents evaluated and prioritized policy proposals concerning health, water, and green spaces. A total of 79 proposals were put to a vote, with the outcomes to be analyzed and reported by the İzmir Planning Agency. These findings will guide municipal departments in shaping city policies. The initiative aims to integrate citizen feedback directly into municipal services and planning. Following meetings in all 30 districts, a Citizen Provincial Assembly will convene to consolidate all suggestions. This process aims to transform local issues and solutions into city-wide policies. Future assemblies are scheduled for Beydağ, Kiraz, and Ödemiş, with the program continuing across all İzmir districts until November.
