City Bus Driver Loses Consciousness, Crashes on Belgrade Bridge

Belgrade, Serbia – A serious traffic accident occurred on Brankov Bridge late at night when a city bus driver lost consciousness while driving from the city center towards New Belgrade.

The driver, who was en route back to the depot and had no passengers on board, experienced a sudden loss of consciousness. This led to him losing control of the vehicle. The bus first collided with a vehicle ahead, then broke through the central barrier, and finally came to a halt after impacting the protective guardrail on the opposite side of the road.

The driver, identified as a 52-year-old male with previously unverified chronic health conditions, was promptly transported to the Center for Emergency Medicine at the Military Medical Academy (VMA). Colonel Dr. Nebojša Marić, the chief surgeon on duty at VMA, reported that the patient experienced a "crisis of consciousness" and could not recall events immediately following. The impact with the guardrail did not result in severe physical injuries for the driver.

Dr. Marić stated that the patient is currently under observation, primarily neurological, to determine the exact cause of the incident. Fortunately, the situation did not lead to more serious consequences, and the driver is being monitored closely.
