Civilian Drives Wounded Officer to Safety During Nørresundby Shooting

A civilian is being hailed as a hero after driving a wounded police officer to safety during a violent incident in Nørresundby, Denmark. Alexander Steffensen was on his way to meet a friend when he witnessed a shooting unfold at a workshop.

Steffensen first called emergency services upon seeing a fire at the workshop. He then saw the perpetrator shoot and kill a 62-year-old civilian. Shortly after, a police officer arrived, but before they could exit their vehicle, they were shot in the leg and torso through the car door.

He took control of the police car, driving past the gunman while shots were fired, to get the injured officer away from the scene.

They encountered a medical response vehicle in Nørresundby, which took over the officer's treatment. The officer is reported to be in serious but stable condition and has undergone surgery. The 48-year-old suspect has confessed to the killing of the civilian but denies any intent to murder, stating he was "tired of it all."
