CJP's Saurav Das backs Rahul Gandhi's ‘firing order’ claims against Amit Shah: ‘He must be held accountable’

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has voiced serious concerns over the actions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, echoing allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi concerning the crackdown on a July 20 protest.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das stated on X that Shah "must be held accountable" for his alleged role in the "police brutality case." Das cited Gandhi's claims in the Lok Sabha, where the opposition leader alleged that the Home Minister "put the pellets into the blood of our students; he ordered the students of India to be shot." Gandhi further asserted that only the Home Minister or the Prime Minister can authorize the use of force, adding that Shah was "scared" to be present in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi's accusations stem from the use of force during the protest, where he claimed students were targeted. He suggested that if Shah was unaware of the firing, it would indicate incompetence. The Congress leader also alleged he saw Shah in his car during the incident.

In response, the BJP strongly condemned Gandhi's remarks. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded proof for the allegations, calling them irresponsible and a breach of privilege. Rijiju stated that ministers do not issue orders for police firing, asserting that such decisions fall under the jurisdiction of local magistrates. The Lok Sabha Speaker also reminded members of the rules regarding allegations made without prior notice or evidence. The government expressed its displeasure, noting Gandhi's failure to substantively address the anti-paper leak bill and his 'unparliamentary' comments against the Home Minister.

Ministers do not issue orders for police firing, stating that such decisions fall under the jurisdiction of the magistrate or the Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) present at the spot.
