CJP to launch website linking protesters with lawyers, Kapil Sibal announces ₹1 crore legal fund

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to launch a new website designed to track legal actions against protesters and facilitate connections with legal professionals. Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Kapil Sibal announced the initiative on Monday, also pledging ₹1 crore towards a legal aid fund for the project.

The website will also serve to identify lawyers willing to offer assistance, allowing them to register their details and the type of help they can provide.

Sibal urged lawyers nationwide and others to contribute to the fund. "I will contribute Rs. 1 crore, and urge lawyers across India and others to also contribute to this fund so that wherever the law is misused and false cases are filed against peaceful protesters, we will stand with them. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Police had detained several students "under the guise of the Prayagraj protest." He questioned the basis for these detentions, citing the central government's prior assurance that no action would be taken against students. Yadav called for the immediate release of the detained students and the suspension of officials involved.
