Clancy family nanny testifies that Lindsay was "a wonderful mom"

On the seventh day of testimony in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, the family's last nanny described Clancy as a "wonderful mom who loved her kids." Clancy faces charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months. She has admitted to killing them in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home on January 24, 2023.

Elaine Rossi, who worked as the Clancy family's nanny from September to early December 2022, testified that Lindsay Clancy shared her struggles with postpartum depression. Rossi observed prescription bottles in the house and noted that Clancy intended to start new medication, which would prevent her from breastfeeding baby Callan. Despite Clancy's mental health challenges, Rossi stated she had no concerns about Clancy's interactions with the children, reiterating, "None at all, she was a wonderful mom."

I observed a wonderful mom who loved her kids. She was very concerned about their safety. She was very concerned with Callan's eating and sleeping. She was a wonderful mother.

Rossi described the children fondly, calling Callan "the happiest, sweetest, easiest baby." During cross-examination, defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked Rossi about her previous statements to police. Rossi confirmed she told state police, "I observed a wonderful mom who loved her kids," and added, "I did love Lindsay, yes."

Further testimony came from forensic toxicologist Dr. Justin Brower, who described the amount of drugs detected in Lindsay Clancy's system as consistent with a therapeutic level. He stated that the levels were not indicative of a "suicidal level," explaining that individuals attempting suicide by overdose typically ingest much larger quantities of medication. Dr. Brower agreed that "the numbers alone do not tell the tale of what happened to a particular individual."
