Clara Tauson crashes out in French Open first round after second-set collapse

Clara Tauson's campaign at the French Open ended abruptly in the first round after a dramatic three-set loss to Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur. The Danish No. 21 seed squandered a commanding position in the second set, ultimately falling 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.

At one point, Tauson was just two points away from advancing in the second set, leading 5-3 and holding a 30-30 advantage on Snigur's serve. However, the momentum shifted dramatically as Snigur, ranked 95th in the world, fought back to claim the set and then dominated the decider.

Concerns over Tauson's physical condition surfaced late in the match. The 21-year-old Dane was seen bending over and holding her lower back, appearing to be in pain. This physical struggle coincided with Snigur finding her best form and seizing the opportunity to secure a significant upset.

Tauson entered the tournament having recently recovered from a series of injuries. While she managed to complete a match for the first time in nearly three months just days prior, that warm-up tournament in Strasbourg also ended in defeat. Her performance at Roland Garros highlighted persistent physical challenges that hampered her ability to close out the match.
