Clear, Cool First Weekend of September Brings Strong Autumn Winds Nationwide

The first Saturday of September will bring clear, cool early-autumn weather to most of South Korea, with strong seasonal winds sweeping across the country.

Morning temperatures are expected to range from 16°C to 23°C, while daytime highs will reach 25°C to 32°C. Seoul is forecast to reach 29°C, Busan 29°C, Daejeon 28°C, Daegu 27°C and Jeju 28°C. Gwangju could reach 32°C, and western Jeju and parts of the Jeolla region may feel closer to 31°C.

Most areas will remain mostly clear. Gangwon, Jeju and the northern and eastern coastal areas of North Gyeongsang province could see cloudy conditions and occasional rain. Expected rainfall ranges from less than 5 millimeters in the Gangwon mountains and parts of North Gyeongsang to 5 to 40 millimeters in the mountainous and mid-mountain areas of Jeju.

Strong winds are expected nationwide. Wind advisories are in effect along the southern coast of South Jeolla, near Mount Jirisan, along the Gyeongsang coast and on Jeju Island. The winds could disrupt flights, so travelers are advised to check flight information. Authorities also warned of falling trees and urged caution while walking or driving.

High-wave advisories cover the southern East Sea, the eastern and western South Sea offshore waters, waters around Jeju and the southern offshore waters of the southern West Sea. Ships engaged in sailing or fishing in those areas were urged to take particular care.
