Cloudbursts and thunderstorms hit large parts of Denmark

Denmark is bracing for severe weather as the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued warnings for cloudbursts and thunderstorms affecting most of the country. The alert is in effect until midday, with significant rainfall expected.

Locally, up to 15-25 mm of rain could fall within a 30-minute period. DMI attributes these intense showers to warm and unstable air flowing over the country from the southwest. The exact locations of the most severe downpours remain uncertain, but the institute notes that seven locations in Jutland experienced cloudbursts overnight.
