Club icon praised for her level after disappointing news

Kristina “Mulle” Kristiansen has continued to deliver for Nykøbing Falster Handball Club after learning that the club will not renew her contract. The decision brought the club icon to tears, but it has not affected her performances, coach Niels Agesen said.

The 37-year-old playmaker has played three matches since the decision was announced before the season. She has taken on many minutes for a team hit by absences, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

Agesen said Kristiansen had handled her disappointment professionally because she loves playing handball and remains focused on her teammates. He said he could understand if her motivation had fallen, but described her as playing very well.

The club said it made the decision with its long-term future in mind, assessing what the squad should look like in 2029 and 2030. Agesen said age was one factor, but not the only one. Skills, squad composition and finances also shaped the planning. NFH has cut its budget compared with last year, although work is under way to add resources in coming seasons. The club will play Odense Håndbold in its first Champions League match of the season on Sunday.
