CMD Vows to Reposition Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja to Deliver Mandate

Dr. Abdulrahman Shehu, the Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja (FTHL), has pledged to reposition the institution and elevate its healthcare service delivery. He articulated this vision during an interactive session with members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Kogi State.

The major priority of the management is the workers welfare, if the hospital must deliver it mandate the staff here must be motivated.

Shehu highlighted that the current management is actively implementing measures to enhance the tertiary health institution, aiming to ignite improved quality healthcare. A primary focus, he stated, is staff welfare, recognizing that motivated employees are essential for the hospital to fulfill its mandate. He noted recent successes, including the completion of outstanding promotion examinations and the implementation of new salary scales, which are already benefiting the staff.

He stressed that the management is not passively leading but is actively working on multiple fronts to propel the hospital forward. He expressed a belief that Nigerian hospitals can be transformed into replicas of international facilities by instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility among the staff.

To further this goal and ensure the hospital's progress, Dr. Shehu also sought a more robust partnership with the media, viewing them as key allies in advancing FTHL's mission and improving healthcare for the community.
