Coach Igor Štimac dismissed by Zrinjski Mostar amid public criticism

Croatian football coach Igor Štimac has been let go by Zrinjski Mostar, with reports indicating Slovenian coach Simon Rožman is poised to take over the Bosnian club. The decision follows a period of intense speculation about Štimac's future, culminating in a public letter he posted on Facebook just before a crucial meeting with the club's management.

In his open letter, Štimac detailed his perspective on the season, highlighting his successful tenure which saw the team achieve its first European spring, win the BiH Supercup and Cup, and secure second place in the domestic league. He asserted that all achievements were earned through fair play, without any assistance from referees or preferential treatment. Štimac expressed pride in the team's European performances, including matches against notable clubs like Crystal Palace and Raków Częstochowa.

Štimac did not hold back in criticizing what he perceived as media speculation and internal pressures aimed at removing him. Despite earlier denials of the rumors by Zrinjski Mostar, the media has persistently linked Štimac with an exit. The club's contractually obligated review of the one-year mandate after June was expected to clarify Štimac's position. Štimac concluded his statement by thanking the fans for their support and promising to explain the full reasons for the potential separation once the situation is clarified.
