Colapinto Embraces Gasly After Frenchman Takes Italian Grand Prix Pole

Pierre Gasly pointed repeatedly to the sign marking first place after climbing from his Alpine car at Monza. Moments later, his teammate Franco Colapinto came over and the two shared an emotional embrace, with several pats on the back.

The Frenchman had already won the Italian Grand Prix on Sept. 6, 2020, driving for AlphaTauri. After qualifying, he switched from English to Italian, drawing cheers and applause from the local crowd, and thanked his team for giving him a “fantastic car.”
