Colo Colo extends Liga de Primera lead with victory over La Serena

Colo Colo extended their winning streak in the Liga de Primera, defeating Deportes La Serena 4-2 at the Estadio La Portada. The victory solidified their position as league leaders.

Despite early dominance from Fernando Ortiz's team, scoring didn't come until the 44th minute with a penalty converted by Víctor Felipe Méndez after a handball. However, Deportes La Serena equalized in first-half stoppage time due to a goalkeeping error by Gabriel Maureira, allowing Bruno Gutiérrez to score.

Leandro Hernández put Colo Colo back in front early in the second half with a skillful individual play. Their lead was short-lived as Diego Rubio equalized for the home side just four minutes later. Colo Colo regained the advantage through Lautaro Pastrán in the 64th minute, and Francisco Marchant sealed the victory in added time after another goalkeeper error.

With this win, Colo Colo now has 33 points, maintaining their top spot in the league standings. Deportes La Serena remains in 12th place with 17 points. In the upcoming final match of the first round, Colo Colo will host Cobresal on June 13, while Deportes La Serena will visit Audax Italiano on June 12.
