Colo Colo starts Copa Chile with clear win over Deportes Recoleta

Colo Colo began their Copa Chile campaign with a decisive 3-0 win against Deportes Recoleta at the Estadio Santa Laura.

The Santiago-based club demonstrated clear superiority from the outset against their opponents from the Liga de Ascenso. Tomás Alarcón set the tone early, scoring in the 6th minute with a well-placed shot that beat goalkeeper Jaime Vargas. Colo Colo, managed by Fernando Ortiz, continued to press for a second goal.

Before halftime, Arturo Vidal converted a penalty in the 37th minute after Christian Cepeda fouled Lautaro Pastrán, giving Colo Colo a comfortable lead heading into the break.

The second half saw Colo Colo maintain their dominance. Francisco Alarcón conceded a penalty in the 54th minute after fouling Maximiliano Romero. Romero himself stepped up to take the penalty and confidently scored, extending Colo Colo's lead to 3-0.

Deportes Recoleta attempted to find a consolation goal but failed to break through Colo Colo's defense. With this result, Colo Colo sits atop Group E with three points. Deportes Recoleta is third in the group, also with three points but having played two more matches. Colo Colo's next Copa Chile match is at home against O'Higgins on June 25.
