Colombia Advances to World Cup Round of 16 with 1-0 Win Over Ghana

Colombia has advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup after a 1-0 victory over Ghana. The Colombian team, favored to win, controlled the match from start to finish.

Despite generating numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game, Colombia was unable to extend their advantage. Luis Díaz had a goal disallowed for offside, and James Rodríguez was substituted at halftime after a subdued performance.

Ghana, managed by former Colombian coach Carlos Queiroz, adopted a defensive strategy and posed little threat to the Colombian goal, failing to register a single shot on target during the entire match.

With this win, Colombia returns to the knockout stage of the World Cup after missing the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
