Colombia apprehends leading figure of drug gang Tren de Aragua

Colombian security forces have apprehended a high-ranking member of the notorious Tren de Aragua criminal organization in Bogotá. The arrest marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to combat transnational crime within the region.

The apprehended individual is reported to be a close confidant of Niño Guerrero, the former leader of Tren de Aragua, who was killed in June. The organization, known for its extensive criminal activities, has been a focus for law enforcement agencies in several South American countries.

Colombian President Abelardo De la Espriella emphasized the significance of the operation, stating on the platform X, "The message to transnational crime is clear: Colombia will not be a refuge or a safe haven for criminals.
