Colón patriotic parades to return to Avenida Bolívar route

Colón authorities have agreed to restore the route for this year’s patriotic parades along Avenida Bolívar. The procession will begin at Calle Primera, at Paseo Marino, continue along the full length of Avenida Bolívar and finish at Calle 11.

Local authorities, representatives of institutions, security agencies and emergency teams met to assess the route’s logistical viability and the security conditions needed for the November celebrations.

Security officials are expected to maintain control and respond to anyone who could cause violence or crime, while avoiding restrictions on public participation. Authorities also said security agencies should identify and monitor people who could pose a risk, and called on citizens to help keep the celebration orderly.

The agreed route must still be discussed with the Institutional Protection Service, which is responsible in part for protecting the president. Officials also expect to meet in the coming days with the leaders of independent marching bands to continue coordinating the parades.
