Colosio Riojas defends Sonoran roots, calls origin questions 'idiotic'

Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas forcefully rejected claims questioning his Sonoran roots, asserting, "They are bullshit, those are idiocies. I was born in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, and have always, always, always been from Magdalena."

Colosio Riojas, son of the late presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta, addressed the persistent rumors about his birthplace as speculation mounts about his potential candidacy for governor of Sonora in the 2027 elections under the Movimiento Ciudadano banner. His presence at a Movimiento Ciudadano event in Hermosillo generated significant anticipation, with attendees chanting "Governor, governor, governor!" and forming long lines for photos.

"This is the land that gave me a home for many years," he stated, emphasizing his connection to Magdalena de Kino. When questioned about his ties to Nuevo León, where he previously served as mayor of Monterrey, Colosio Riojas broadened his scope, saying, "I am interested in Mexico, I am from all of Mexico."

Regarding a potential gubernatorial bid in Sonora, Colosio Riojas remained non-committal, stating that any decision would be made in accordance with electoral timelines. He stressed that a candidacy is built through consistent work and citizen engagement, not in a few weeks. "A project for the governorship is built with daily work, talking with people. Movimiento Ciudadano in Sonora has done a lot of work and knows the state's problems," he affirmed.
