Commemorative Gathering in Novi Sad Marks 21 Months Since Canopy Collapse

Twenty-one months after a tragic canopy collapse at the Novi Sad train station claimed the lives of 16 people, a memorial gathering took place in the city. Citizens convened to honor the victims and to continue demanding accountability for the incident that occurred on the Jewish day of rest.

During the commemoration, attendees observed a moment of silence before proceeding to the site of the tragedy to lay flowers and light candles. The gathering was called by students and various associations who are pushing for responsibility to be assigned for the deaths. Similar gatherings were also planned for later in the evening at Futoška Market, followed by a commemorative walk to the train station.

Despite the passage of time and the ongoing legal processes in Novi Sad and Belgrade related to the canopy's fall, the article notes that "the tally of those responsible remains zero."
