Concept for development of southern shore of Issyk-Kul to be presented on July 3

A regional forum, "Teskey Issyk-Kul," scheduled for July 3 on the southern shore of Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul Lake, will unveil a comprehensive development strategy for the area. Initiated by Member of Parliament Rakhat Zhunushbaeva, the "Teskey Issyk-Kul concept" is the first strategic document to outline a unified vision for the region's development through 2035-2040. The forum aims to attract investment and foster discussion among government representatives, investors, businesses, civil society, and local residents. The concept proposes a systematic approach to development, encompassing tourism, infrastructure, construction, industry, agriculture, digitalization, ecology, and human capital. Its core mission is to create a modern model of sustainable development while preserving the region's unique natural and cultural heritage, ensuring well-being for current and future generations. Special emphasis is placed on developing five key tourism clusters: eco-tourism, cultural tourism, sports tourism, health and longevity, agro-tourism, and gastronomy. The strategy also includes an investment map, infrastructure project lists, an architectural code, and a governance roadmap. A pilot environmental initiative, "One Tourist - One Tree," will involve creating a Tourist Park and a digital map to track planted trees. Additionally, plans are in motion to transform Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon into a next-generation tourist site with ecological trails, digital audio guides, and regulated visitor flows. The forum will also feature the presentation of a youth digital and innovation cluster aimed at boosting the IT sector and supporting startups. Following the presentations, an expert discussion will convene to formulate proposals for implementing the regional development strategy.
