Conmebol imposes hefty fines on Boca Juniors for Copa Sudamericana infractions

South American football's governing body, Conmebol, has imposed significant fines on Argentine club Boca Juniors for multiple rule violations during their Copa Sudamericana playoff match against O'Higgins. The disciplinary commission announced sanctions totaling tens of thousands of dollars, stemming from infractions that occurred during the first leg of the tie at La Bombonera.

The club was hit with a $20,000 penalty for delaying the resumption of play after halftime, a violation of article 5.1.11.5, numeral 2. This specific infraction also led to a $15,000 fine for Boca Juniors' coach, Rodolfo Arruabarrena. Additionally, the team received a formal warning for failing to use the official Conmebol-provided vests, as required by article 5.4.2.

Boca Juniors has a seven-day window to appeal these sanctions. However, the club must first pay $3,000 to formally submit any appeal against the disciplinary measures handed down by Conmebol.
