Construction begins on Luzhu Wufu land readjustment project, completion set for 2028

Taoyuan City has begun construction on the Wufu land readjustment project in Luzhu District after more than 50 years of discussion. The NT$95 million project is scheduled for completion and handover in 2028.

The work will upgrade roads, pedestrian areas and drainage around the site. It will also include a detention pond and a dedicated school route designed to provide students with a safer and more comfortable journey to and from school.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng attended the groundbreaking ceremony and said the project would address increasingly crowded elementary-school facilities around Nankan. The city government is carrying out the public land readjustment to provide original landowners with quality residential land while speeding up related construction.

The government expects to obtain about 2 hectares of land for public elementary-school use and plans to build Wufu Elementary School there. The remaining 1.45 hectares of developable land will be distributed to the original landowners under the relevant rules.

The Land Administration Bureau said the entire readjustment area covers about 3.45 hectares. It had originally been designated for a senior high school, but the city reviewed the urban plan after nearby Nankan, Guangming, Jinxing and Nanmei elementary schools were expected to run short of classroom space.
