Construction continues through Vietnam’s Sept. 2 holiday on Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Dau Mot, Chon Thanh expressway

While Vietnam celebrated the Sept. 2 holiday, hundreds of workers and machines remained active on the Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Dau Mot, Chon Thanh expressway in Dong Nai City.

Rollers, excavators and material-transport vehicles continued operating across the site. Crews have completed or are finishing sections of the roadbed and moving on to aggregate layers and pavement structures. Some areas have reached the CTB layer, using crushed stone stabilized with 4% cement.

The unit is currently deploying all construction fronts across the site handed over by the investor. Some locations have reached CTB, while the cement layer has been stabilized at 4%. After the Sept. 2 holiday, the unit will lay asphalt on sections that meet the technical requirements.

Lam Quoc Lich, the site commander for Truong Son Construction Corporation, said all available construction fronts were operating on land handed over by the investor. He said crews would begin asphalt paving after the holiday in areas that meet the technical requirements.

With a relatively large amount of work remaining, the unit is organizing three shifts to meet the planned schedule. Because of the work schedule, construction continues through the holiday, and compensatory leave will be arranged once the project is basically complete.

The project is scheduled for completion on Dec. 31, 2026, but work has reached only about 35% of the planned volume. To maintain the schedule, contractors deployed more than 90 pieces of equipment and nearly 200 engineers and workers in rotating shifts. They are working three shifts a day and will take compensatory leave once the project reaches a basic level of completion.

Local authorities are also encouraging residents to hand over the remaining land. Nguyen Anh Tai, chairman of Chon Thanh Ward, said site clearance and handover had reached 98.5%, while most households with remaining property had agreed and were dismantling structures. The expressway will run for more than 52 kilometers, including over 6.6 kilometers in Dong Nai, with investment of more than 1.474 trillion Vietnamese dong.

For the Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Dau Mot, Chon Thanh expressway, we have cleared and handed over clean land to the investor and contractor at a rate of 98.5%. For the remaining land, households have basically agreed and are dismantling their structures.
