Construction Firm Partners with Japanese Company to Import Precast Technology

Gen Base Engineering, a key contractor for high-tech facilities in Taiwan, has joined forces with Japan's Oriental Shiroishi, a leader in precast technology. The two companies have signed a joint venture agreement to establish "Guan He Precision Precast Materials Co., Ltd." This new entity will introduce Japan's mature and high-quality precast industrial construction technology to the Taiwanese market, with an initial focus on high-tech construction projects.

The partnership aims to tackle Taiwan's severe labor shortage in the construction sector. By importing Japanese precast techniques, Gen Base plans to set up a precast plant in Changhua. The facility is projected to reach an annual output of 45,000 cubic meters by 2030, sufficient to supply materials for multiple factory constructions. The initial phase, expected to be operational by the end of next year, will produce 5,000 cubic meters annually, with capacity increasing in subsequent years.

Compared to traditional construction methods, precast technology offers substantial benefits. Gen Base highlights that it can reduce construction waste by 80%, decrease on-site labor needs by 60%, and shorten project completion times by approximately 40%. The choice of Oriental Shiroishi as a partner was strategic, given their experience, including involvement in constructing TSMC's plant in Kumamoto, Japan, and their 70-year history in the field. This collaboration is anticipated to create a more competitive industrialized construction model, contributing to Taiwan's major infrastructure, housing development, and sustainable urban growth.
