Controversial energy companies Velkommen A/S and others declared bankrupt

The Danish energy and gas company Velkommen A/S, along with its associated firms B.energy and Vedvarende, has been declared bankrupt. The Maritime and Commercial Court confirmed the insolvency of these entities, which are part of the larger Velkommen group comprising four energy and gas companies.

In recent months, the Velkommen group faced intense public scrutiny and criticism. Accusations included overcharging customers for advance payments (aconto) and a failure to reimburse customers as required. The situation escalated last month when thousands of customers were abruptly transferred from the troubled Velkommen group to Energidrift, a move reportedly made without the customers' explicit consent.
