Civica Brescia, a local civic group, has seized on a recent ruling by the Court of Auditors as validation of its persistent criticisms regarding the financial management of the Brescia municipality. The group asserts that the court's findings on the 2021-2024 financial reports confirm their allegations of a "deficient and risky" financial strategy, a stance they claim to have maintained for years.

Massimiliano Battagliola, the group's leader, detailed specific areas of concern highlighted by the court. These include the "chronic slowness" in collecting property taxes (Tari) and fines, which he described as a "flaw that jeopardizes future balances." Furthermore, the court reportedly rejected the accounting methods used for contentious funds and guarantees, echoing reservations previously raised by Civica Brescia. The group also pointed to the court's critique of the A2A company's consolidation process, which Civica Brescia had previously labeled as "alarmist."

The deliberation of the Court of Auditors (no. 180/2026) on the 2021-2024 financial statements certifies what the Center-Right has been denouncing for years: the financial management of the Municipality of Brescia is deficient and risky.

Battagliola contrasted the administration's alleged "arrogance" with the "technical competence and foresight" of his coalition. He stated that while the current administration was "closing itself in its fortress of political arrogance," Civica Brescia was actively studying how to better manage the city. He urged the administration to "change course immediately," declaring that "the time for denials is over, the time for responsibility has begun." Civica Brescia pledged to continue its oversight with the "technical rigor" now officially recognized by the Court of Auditors.
