Courtney Love reveals near-fatal health crisis: 'I lost all my hair and weighed 45 kilos'

Musician Courtney Love has shared details of a harrowing health crisis she endured several years ago, admitting she was convinced she would not survive. The former wife of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain recalled a period in 2019 when she traveled to the UK and experienced serious health issues that led to frequent hospitalizations.

"It just exploded and I spent a lot of time in hospitals. I almost died," Love stated in a video posted on Instagram. During her illness, she lost all her hair and experienced significant weight loss, dropping to approximately 45 kilograms (99 pounds). "I lost all my hair. I was around 45 kilograms and they told me I was going to die, and I didn't believe them," she recounted.

Love did not disclose the specific illness but admitted that she initially dismissed her doctors' warnings. She attributed this to her childhood experiences and a tendency to question authority figures. "When they told me I was going to die, I simply didn't believe them," she confessed.

Despite the severity of her condition, Love has since recovered and is now healthy. She announced her return to music, with a new album created during her most difficult period. "When I was making it, I believed it would be my last album, so I made the album I always wanted to make," she wrote. She expressed a strong desire to perform live again, stating, "I want to go on tour. And I want to sing."
