CPBL: Fubon Young Catcher Suffers Bizarre Injury, and Chang Yu-Cheng Says He Has Never Seen One Like It

Fubon Guardians catcher Lu Po-hua suffered a left shoulder dislocation after swinging too forcefully during a game against the Uni-President Lions two days earlier. The 22-year-old left the game early and was sent down to the minor-league team the following day. Fubon called up another catcher, Lin Dai-an.

Before the next game, manager Mitsutaka Gotoh said Lu had not yet received a detailed examination. Doctors would need to conduct further tests to determine the full extent of the injury, and Gotoh indicated that it was unlikely to be minor.

Fubon slugger Chang Yu-Cheng said he had never seen a shoulder dislocation caused by a batter swinging too hard. “He swung too hard. His swing is more forceful than mine. Perhaps his physical condition could not handle that much force,” Chang said.

Lu has played eight games this season, going 2-for-12 for a .167 batting average.
