CPBL: Wu Chun-wei returns to CTBC Brothers roster after 53-day minor league stint

Taichung, Taiwan – Pitcher Wu Chun-wei has rejoined the CTBC Brothers' active roster, marking his return after a 53-day adjustment period in the minor league. The move comes as the team seeks to bolster its bullpen, which has been under strain.

Wu's return is seen as a positive development for the Brothers. Pitching coach Wang Chien-ming expressed confidence in Wu's performance during his time in the minor league, stating that he hopes the pitcher can effectively relieve pressure on the team's bullpen. Wu had been sent down to the minor league on June 22 after struggling in early June, where his ERA jumped from 0.00 to 5.87 across five appearances. Since July 1, however, he has shown significant improvement in the minor league, pitching in 12 games with only two instances of allowing runs, securing two holds and four saves.

Meanwhile, the team is monitoring the condition of pitcher Tsai Chi-che, who is currently experiencing some issues. Wang indicated that Tsai's availability for the next few games is uncertain and will depend on his recovery. The decision to send down starting pitcher Wu Li-chen, who earned a win against Fubon Guardians on the previous day, was made to give him more time for recovery and adjustment.

The team's coaching staff is still deliberating on Wu Chun-wei's specific role, whether he will pitch in the eighth or ninth inning. However, it is confirmed that he will be deployed in the latter stages of games. His return is expected to provide much-needed depth and stability to the Brothers' pitching staff as they navigate the remainder of the season.
